After spending much of my day telling other people what to do — in a nice way of course — it's oddly comforting to have my miCoach Pacer ($139) tell me to speed up or slow down when I am out for a run. The miCoach is Adidas's answer to the Nike+ running system, but it offers real time audio coaching. This means a voice, you select the accent (I have chosen British male and like to think James Bond is coaching me), interrupts your music to let you know if you're running too fast, too slow, or just right for the selected workout.
The Consumer Electronics Show, aka CES, is taking place in Las Vegas right now. And it makes sense that at this convention of electronic gadgetry Adidas chose to introduce its portable coaching device, the miCoach. Adidas brought a handful of fitness bloggers up to Vegas to attend the press conference, and I was lucky to be among them.
I've liked her since she was tormented little Dawn on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Michelle Trachtenberg has officially entered the celebrity designer game with a jewelry collection for Coach's Poppy line. We're always a little apprehensive about new celeb collabs, but the whimsical jewels speak for themselves.
Just like Juicy Couture gave thanks, Coach is also showing its philanthropic side through Coach Cares. The brand has collaborated with high-profile celebrities like Mandy Moore, Jessica Alba, and Ryan Reynolds, to spread joy this holiday season. Each star has selected a must-have holiday item — Mandy's is a Coach Amanda Satin Foldover Clutch ($298).
Coach has utilized every color in the rainbow for their latest Bleecker collection ads. This shot in particular, with Estonian model Tiiu Kuik (far left) and company, is super fun in comparison to some of the more serious ads out there. Although heavy ads have their place, seeing a picture with lots of energy and bold hues is refreshing.
Are "nylon" and "posh" mutually exclusive? I kind of thought so, until I saw the Varick Nylon Laptop Sleeve from Coach.
If your laptop is something you're taking to work, its lack of bright, bold pattern puts it in the more professional arena, and the luxe details like leather lining grow it up a little.
Lately we've been seeing Reese Witherspoon throwing the softball around, both preparing for a movie and playing with her kids. Even if you don't have kids of your own, coaching a youth team can be a great way to get in shape and feel good at the same time.
Even though you're not actually on the team, you'll run around plenty when trying to keep a team of teens or kids in check.
The New York Times published an article last month about dating coaches. We all know that the dating game can be incredibly difficult, but some women are going to the extreme and hiring dating coaches for that extra push in the right direction to find their perfect match. According to the Times, dating coaches are very different than matchmakers, they don't arrange dates; instead they act as cheerleaders and advisers, pointing out less than helpful behavior.
